Gloriosa Daisy Rudbeckia | 8" Hoop

I used to overlook Rudbeckias, also known as black-eyed Susans, until I stumbled upon this one. Its single row of delicate golden yellow petals blending into a rich burgundy completely changed my perception. And that cone-shaped center? Absolutely stunning. This flower was a true masterpiece. The way its petals moved with such grace was so poetic. Unlike flowers with multiple layers of petals, this Rudbeckia's simplicity allowed each petal to stand out, creating a beautiful harmony. I couldn't resist observing it from various angles. I must admit, I may have gone a bit overboard with all the pictures I took of this one flower. But it was just so incredibly special.

When you purchase seeds from a small business, they often include thoughtful notes or sometimes extra/surprise seeds. Last year was my first time purchasing seeds from such small businesses, and I  received a little packet of mix of mystery seeds. Excitedly, I decided to give them a try and see what would grow. Little did I know, my luck with flowers was about to bloom. Among the mix of mystery seeds, one of them turned out to be this stunning Rudbeckia. Throughout its journey, I transferred it from a seedling tray to a pot, then to a bucket, and finally to its temporary bed before finding its forever home. Despite all the changes, this resilient flower thrived and didn't seem to mind the transitions and challenges. It might even have to move again this year, but I have a feeling that it knows there's an even better place waiting for it.
